Business Direction
Let us help you define and communicate what success looks like in your business.
People don’t buy what you do, they buy why you do it. If everyone in your business understands what you stand for, you’ll have a winning culture that acts consistently and really delivers. This strategy and business model workshop will help you rediscover your mojo to inspire growth and effectiveness.
Over recent years Vision and Values have often been dismissed as unnecessary window-dressing. We don’t do fluffy. This is an edgy session with implications throughout the organisation from brand to behaviours. Use it to support, strategy, re-organisation, major projects and change management.
What’s the best route from A to B and how will you get there? Strategy has become dynamic with organisations walking a tightrope between long term commitment to business direction and short-term market fluctuations. Useful to spend some time on, but not too much. We’ll help you keep it simple.
Understand the capabilities you need to be good at to deliver the strategy, and the best way to develop them. This critical part of implementation is sometimes overlooked. If you need to find the right mix of people, processes and systems to deliver your strategy, ask for one of these workshops.
What is Business Direction?
Business Direction is about clarity, what we need to be doing now and next to reach a future outcome. For some clients this is a Business Model, we favour the Alex Osterwalder approach. For others it’s a new or updated Strategy – think Michael Porter, McKinseys and many others. Sometimes it’s really just a Plan that clearly sets out the steps to achieve an organisational goal. We spend time with clients focused on the outcomes they want so that our solution is totally relevant to delivering the desired results.
Why Vision and Values?
The majority of profit focused organisations are task focused. They also have a culture or as we think of it “how things get done around here when no one is watching”. That means for every individual there are at least two sets of expectations that may or may not line up with why they come to work. Putting focus on Vision and Values makes those conversations explicit. It creates an aspirational mindset for people working together that guides their actions and ultimately replaces the default culture with something meaningful and motivating.
What do you mean by Capability?
Capability is the DNA of your business, the sum of the people, processes and systems it contains. When developing strategy and making strategic choices it informs in which markets you are likely to be successful. When implementing strategy, it means you know what you need to be good at to succeed. This is not just about people. Think of pricing for example. How do you decide and manage the price points and movements for your market and individual customers? For most clients the answer will span people processes and systems.
